The Craft Studio’s mission is to create opportunities for MU students and community members to explore arts and crafts in a causal and recreational environment. Craft Studio classes are offered for a variety of skill levels ranging from the novice explorer to the seasoned artisan. Our Studio space is available for people of all abilities to explore art and engage in self-discovery. We maintain a gallery to showcase the work of local artisans as well as providing new artists with their first exhibition opportunities. The ultimate goal of the Craft Studio is to help people overcome their fears about art and discover their inner creativity.

 

Registering for Classes and Purchasing Memberships

All classes, memberships and supplies can be purchased at the Craft Studio. The Craft Studio currently accepts payments in cash, check or student charge. We cannot accept credit/debit cards at this time. For more information about becoming a Craft Studio Member, please visit our membership page.

 

Refunds

We do not offer refunds for supplies or memberships. Classes are refunded only if a class is cancelled by the Craft Studio or if the purchaser cancels their registrations at least 72 hours prior to the start of the class/workshop.

 

ADA Accommodations

For ADA and accessibility accommodations, please email CraftStudio@missouri.edu in advance of purchasing tickets. We will try to accommodate all reasonable requests.

 

Age Restrictions

Craft Studio classes and services are designed for participants of college age and older. Children at least 12 years old may participate in some workshops with permission from the Craft Studio coordinator in advance. Anyone under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.

The Craft Studio is located on the lower level of the north tower in Memorial Student Union. The elevator and staircase both exit the lower level in front of the Craft Studio.

 

Parking

A metered parking lot is located behind Memorial Student Union (and is accessible from University Ave.). There are metered parking spaces along University Ave. and on Hitt St. (north of University Ave.). There are also two parking lots within walking distance, Hitt Street Garage and University Avenue Garage.

 

Craft Studio Funding

The Craft Studio receives funding from the Missouri Students Association and the Graduate Professional Council (the student governments of MU) through student activity fees. This generous support covers the cost of professional staff, however all other operating expenses are generated through user fees.
